A Lost Way

I am lost in the dark river of thought
I am lost in a deep dungeon of hell
I am lost throughout the spirals of tears
I am lost in the footsteps that lead to nowhere
I am lost in the echo of your voice
I am lost in the burning raindrops that fall on my skin
I am completley lost in the way of your stunning eyes
That lie to me

We come to each other
exactly at the center,
the spine of ample fire, and suffer
to be revised.Stay with me.

Weren't we promised
the sheer flame, bright change
so clean even our clothes wouldn't smell of smoke,
not one hair of our heads would be singed?
Yet, just now, didn't the tongues slip
loose and hot about my neck?
Stay close now.

The sound is like a rustling coming from chambers.
someone sifting through thousands
of pages, the histories of rapture,
looking for a happy ending.
he sound is like the sea,
which is very far away.
Are you scared?

There are many things
which are far from us now.
Try to recall a few of them:
the iron in the bath water
that made you taste of rust.
The rabbit screaming in the night,
its innards strewn

on the stoop like prophesy.
Can you hear me? Say something.
Tell me what you remember of our life.
The torn dress you threw away,
a piece of which I rescued and used as a scarf.
Are you still with me? Say something.
Does this hurt very much? Are you here?

Li-Young Lee

The voice of the peom seems to be upset yet calm. It also seems like he doesn't understand why certain things are the way the are so he questions these things. The tone is a bit cynnical towards the subject he is questioning, thats why i feel like the poet is upset. Its like he is thinking of a memory that causes him some pain. Like the line "Tell me what you remember of our life" and the lines "The torn dress you threw away", "a piece of which i rescued and used as a scarf, and "are you still with me? Say something. These lines seem to be a part of a memory. The lines that make him seem upset are "There are many things", "which are far from us now", "the iron in the bathwater", "that made you taste of rust. I think that these lines indicate that he is upset with a certain person that have created memories.

Preformance Poetry (Finding Your Voice) Questions

The taste for perfect passion is winding away
Perfect passion fpr everything
Now coiled around your lurid heart
Is the sly manipulating touch
Still, you can catch breath in a bottle
And keep it hidden with prime skill
Counterclockwise time ticks fast
It meanders down a spine as it takes you by surprise
Your words and condescendence have already dug its path
Why waste your valued time?
Pride is taken in daily doses
And the stinging savour is easily aquired
So stop now the spiraling day
Of what is nothing is actually something

1. The voice of this poem is that of knowing the tricky
skills of words and the effect it can have on someone.

2. The mood that I would express is the mood of being
intellegent and not putting up with peoples' stupid ways
and words and their lack of compassion

3. I would use sly slow movements and then quick
stacotto like movements

4. Being in front of people who have their complete focas on you
makes me pretty nervous for whatever it is
if its just for a few minutes even. This is a different kind of assignment
and it seems very unique and fun.

5. It adds more to the poem. It expresses more about the poem and
brings out the inner feeling and emotion of the poem.
